The sealing probe uses the same type J thermocouple as the spring probe. This probe replaces the gasket on 18mm or 14mm spark plugs. The type J thermocouple has red and white color-coded wires. Note that the spark plugs of some engines can get 50 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than the thermal sleeve. The sealing probe is always recommended when the spring probe cannot be used. Aircraft with TANIS preheaters with thermal sleeves should use the CHT sealing probes.
